Last year I started to run. This year was the year that I completed my first official run, The Plymouth Half Marathon, and the feeling that I got when I ran towards the finish line was something that you cannot really explain. It was unbelievable but I believe that there are feelings that could even double the one I felt when I was running towards the finishing line. The feeling of changing somebody’s life by passing on knowledge just sounds amazing and that is one reason that I wanted to become a teacher. Right now that is my goal and I have my eyes and mind set on it. I have a long way to go before I reach my goal considering I am only in my fifth week of a four year course but I know eventually teaching others as a profession would be a dream come true.
The four and a bit weeks that I have experienced at University have not been what I expected at all because it has been far better! I have enjoyed every day that I have spent at Plymouth University and I look forward to each new day which is strange for me because I disliked going to school. For me going to school felt like a formality which needed to be done just to get through it, I never saw the point of it and looking back now I see that I should never have thought that, I don’t want people to have that same feeling. I would say I’m an odd one considering I didn’t like school but I want to go back to teach, but I have a passion for educating people who need it. I have made many new friends and I think that they are amazing because they all have the same passion that I do.
The experiences that I have had in schools in the past were so exhilarating and getting the feedback from the children that they enjoy me being with them was such a great feeling, I was only taking a few physical education lessons and was generally helping so I still can’t imagine the feeling that a full time teacher would feel but I bet it is one of the best feelings in the world.
My specialism is ICT and getting onto that course is the luckiest thing that I’ve ever done, I am so happy that I am on this course because my opinion is that it is the best course to be on! I believe this because the world of technology is constantly changing so there is constantly more to learn and so more to teach. I believe that technology could be used in a far more useful way in schools than it is being used at the moment in time. As always everyone has their own opinion and I’ve seen some technology that some people think is amazing which I think shouldn’t be used in schools at all but then you could have that the other way around. One of the schools that I went to on my school experience before university was very modern and used ICT a lot which I was very impressed with
This is my first blog and I thought I would say why a few reasons why I want to be a teacher. To be honest though it is difficult to explain why I want to be a teacher I suppose it’s just that I couldn’t ever see myself doing anything else. My twitter account is @AGE_93, feel free to follow me.
Great first blog! I am loving being around people with the same goal and passions as me too. Looking forward to the next four years together. Going to be an amazing journey.
Great blog Adam, I love the way your have brought your experience running to bear on your experience so far learning at University. I think drawing those kinds of parallels is so important for being an effective learner, and as a result an effective teacher.
I find technology acts as an interesting lens through which to look at education. The fact it is moving so fast, and disrupting so much causes me to question assumptions far wider than just ICT.
I look forward to reading more of your thoughts.
